PCR 6th Anniversary Fundraising Gala

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the Parent-Child Relationship Association (PCR) celebrated its 6th Anniversary at a fundraising gala.

Originally established as a small informal organization in 2016, it was a group of small moms and volunteers concerned about how they could help their immigrant community until it officially became a non-profit organization in 2018. In six years, PCR has expanded programs, ranging from social services to community service events, educational workshops to historical tours, all committed to strengthening family relationships, promoting harmonious interactions between parents and children, and helping immigrant families develop a sense of understanding.

In 2023, PCR provided social services to 4,564 community members, helping them overcome language barriers to access benefits such as SNAP, housing, and other programs. 662 volunteers registered to give back to their community, and PCR's volunteers contributed to more than 26,886 hours. 28 community events were hosted, providing the Brooklyn immigrant community opportunities to celebrate their culture and integrate Chinese and American traditions. In 247 workshops, 540 people were served, working closely together through mental health first aid classes, parenting classes, and family group support.

We'd like to congratulate our honorees and thank them for their contributions to the community!

We’re deeply honored to have the support of our government officials, and we sincerely thank them for attending our gala. Their commitment to our mission is invaluable, and we look forward to continuing our work together to uplift and move our community forward!

Our PCR Community Research Collaborative (PCRC) teams announced two survey results. One surveyed Parent-Child Relationships among Chinese youth and the other surveyed the mental health of Chinese adults. The teams emphasized that learning from these results can help improve the relationships between parents and children and improve mental health. They encouraged all to participate in more community activities and workshops.

Our incredible dance groups put on a stunning performance, showcasing beautiful cultural dances and traditional attire. It was a powerful celebration of culture, heritage, and the importance of passing these traditions down to the next generation.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to our amazing community members for attending our gala and showing unwavering support! And a huge shoutout to our dedicated volunteers—a strong driving force behind our movement. Together, let’s continue pushing forward for many more years to come!

Happy 6th Anniversary everyone!
